Music Academy update

It has been an exciting time in The Music Academy. Vale Dr. Philippa Hetherington

The CGGS community mourns the loss of Dr Philippa Hetherington (2001), who passed away on Saturday, 5 November 2022. Philippa was a student at the Junior and Senior School during her time at CGGS and went on to have an outstanding career as an historian and academic. During her long struggle with cancer, Philippa became a prominent advocate and effective campaigner for the funding of new treatments in the UK, where she had worked since 2015 as a lecturer at the School of Slavonic and East…

ICAS awards

International Competitions and Assessment for School (ICAS) is a suite of online academic competitions for students in Years 2-12 that are delivered annually in conjunction with UNSW Global. ICAS aims to recognise and reward academic excellence in a number of fields, including Digital Technologies, English, Mathematics, Science and Writing. The Junior Debating team (Years 7-8) and Senior Debating team (Years 9-10) won their respective ACT Debating Union Grand Finals last night. Congratulations, girls! Nexus Club

On Friday, 21 October the Nexus Club enjoyed a “Ragtags and Royals” (pirates and royalty) movie and board game night. With a movie double feature of The Princess Bride and Pirates of the Caribbean and plenty of snacks and spectacular costumes, it was a fitting farewell for several of the Year 12 students in the club.
