Sport

Our School has a long tradition of valuing physical activity in the lives of students as a way of teaching them discipline, self-esteem, humility, teamwork and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. We encourage students at CGGS to represent the School in their chosen sport and to explore their passions and learn new skills through an activity that interests them.

CGGS's sports and co-curricular program offers numerous competitive pathways for students to participate in sport through ACT School Sport, Associated Southern Colleges (ASC) and club-based sporting opportunities. These include territory, state and national events and involvement with the Independent Girls' School Sport Association. Non-competitive sporting activities are also offered and are encouraged to ensure that students have a well-rounded experience at CGGS.

The Podium Program

The Podium Program is a unique opportunity for our aspiring high-performing sportswomen to access development and mentorship opportunities. Through partnerships with elite sporting institutions within the ACT, selected students at Canberra Girls Grammar School will be supported as they strive to be their best in their chosen sport.

Expressions of interest from athletes across all sports are now open with places strictly limited. The Program will run for the entire school year with a range of supplementary sports sessions included each term. Sessions will include topics such as recovery, strength and conditioning, mental fitness and nutrition.

Applications for the CGGS Podium Program will be accepted annually for the full calendar year.

Students relocating to CGGS during the year will be able to apply for a place in the Podium Program on a pro-rata basis.
