Child Safety at CGGS

Canberra Girls Grammar School (CGGS) is committed to providing quality education and care to children and young people. Our focus is to support all facets of a student’s development, so they are positively connected to each other, and to the communities in which they live and will serve.

At CGGS, the ongoing wellbeing of children and young people is a shared responsibility of our school community. All staff, volunteers, contractors and anyone involved in child-connected work at CGGS are responsible for supporting and promoting the safety of children. We regard our child safety responsibilities to be of the utmost importance, and are committed to providing the necessary resources to ensure compliance with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and the laws relevant to our jurisdiction.

CGGS has zero tolerance for child abuse, neglect and grooming, and is committed to the safety, wellbeing and development of all children and young people. Child abuse in any form poses a serious risk—should you have a belief or suspicion that a child or young person is being, has been, or is at risk of being abused or neglected, you must contact Child and Youth Protection Services (CYPS) and the School immediately.

CGGS has specific policies, procedures and training in place to support and guide our staff and volunteers to meet our obligations and commitment to child safety. For more information or to view our Child Safe Code of Conduct click the link below.
