Student News - Term 3 Week 1

Congratulations to Amelia (Y9) who represented the ACT at the Australian Basketball Championships (Nationals) in Perth over the holidays. This is a tremendous achievement and a testament to the significant time and effort that she has invested to develop and grow as a player.

Well done to Claudia and Scarlett (Y8) who competed in the NSW Junior Premier Basketball League competition in Sydney recently.

Amestris and Ella (Y6) travelled to Orange recently, representing Canberra as part of the basketball futures development program.

Congratulations to Willow (Y6) has been selected to represent School Sport ACT (SSACT) at the School Sport Australia Touch Football Championships in Darwin.

Mia (Y8) has been invited to participate in the Netball ACT Academy for 2023.

Mia will join 30 other athletes from the U14 and U15 age divisions in the 2023 Capital Chemist Junior Championships.

Luci (Y11) recently played at Southern States Rugby championships for the U18s Brumbies team. She played against teams from Country Brumbies, Tasmania and Western Australia.

Aimen (Y10) represented the U16 ACT Indoor Cricket Team recently, while Elizabeth (Y12) was selected for the U18 and U22 for NSW team. Elizabeth and NSW made it to the Grand Final and preliminary final.

Congratulations to Catherine (Y12) and Alyse (Y9) who were selected for the Australian Cricket team after some great performances for the ACT.

Well done to our student-athletes across the Junior and Senior School who competed at the Interschools Snowsports championships this week. There were some exceptional results recorded:

Junior School

Charlotte (Y1): 3rd overall

Alpine Division 4: 4th place (A Team), 8th place (B Team)

Alpine Division 5: 4th place

Alpine Div 6: 3rd place

Ski Cross Division 4: 5th place (A team), 9th place (B team)

Ski Cross Division 5: 4th place, 13th place

Ski Cross Division 6: 2nd place (A team), 8th place (B team)

Moguls Division 4: 3rd place

Senior School

Division 2 Alpine: 3rd place for Athena (Y9)

Grace, Bella and Olivia (Y7) were selected for the Canberra Raiders side that will compete at the Touch Football National Youth Championships in Queensland.

Grace will also be in Darwin for the U15 ACT School Sport competition, and she was also an official referee at this year’s NAIDOC touch football event.

CGGS Hockey teams were fortunate to play against King William's College from the UK recently, who are touring Australia. Playing at the state-of-the-art National Hockey Centre in Lyneham, the girls shared a unique experience on the pitch before catching up for a meal that united them all, regardless of where they call home—pizza.
