Student News - Term 3 Week 4

CGGS students and Alumni recently took center stage for the dance production 'Unhinged'. Izzie (Y12) featured as a lead role in the performance, which was a contemporary take on a classic ballet. Also involved in the production were Tia (Y9), Grammarians Hollie Teer (2022) and Alice Collins (2021) and current parent Bonnie, who was one of the talented choreographers of the show.

Year 6 students were wonderful ambassadors for our school at the IPSHA 2023 Gala Debating day recently, where they won three of their four debates. Felicity, Avtar, Nethara, Harriet, Anarae, Alex and Alice debated with flair, confidence and knowledge as they debated their case in both of the day's topics, receiving critical acclaim from all adjudicators.

Year 6 students who participated in the recent da Vinci Decathlon made it into the top 16 team placement overall, including first place in art and poetry.

Congratulations to the Years 7-8 football team, who placed third out of nine teams in this week's Football Gala Day.

Over the weekend Ada, Miranda, Sofia and Erin (Y9) travelled to Bateman’s Bay for the Rotary Markets to volunteer face-painting. The project forms part of the Regional Engagement co-curricular program.

Amber (Y5) competed at the WAG Level 6 ACT State Titles Gymnastics competition recently, finishing third on bars and fourth on floor. Amber also had the opportunity to meet Olympic gymnast Georgina Godwin.

Off the back of their brilliant performance last week, our Year 4 Wakakirri students have won a State Award, which they will receive at the Awards Showcase Night in September.

The first Waterpolo game was held of the season last Friday night, with students playing in an inter-schools competition at the AIS against Merici.

Year 7 Humanities students explored Kingston Harbour and the Jerrabomberra Creek to better understand the relationship between wetlands habitat and liveable urban areas. The students were courageous in the face of some inclement weather, but spirits were high when they met the ‘Friends of Honeysett Ponds’ who are restoring the banks of the creek.
