Student News - Term 3 Week 5

Congratulations to Georgia (Y4) and Jocelyn (Y5) who received the Swimming ACT Age Champion Award for the nine-year-old and 10-year-old divisions respectively, at the Swimming ACT Presentation Dinner.

Clara (Kindergarten) and Evie (Y1) represented CGGS at the Arndell Inter-Schools Equestrian Carnival recently. Clara and her pony, Toby, won all four of their classes, while Evie and her pony, Patch, won Best Presented, Best Rider, Best Hands, finished second in the Handler class and was announced as the Reserve Champion in a class against 10-year-old riders.

Several students from competed at the ACT Snowsports Schools Cup recently, achieving some outstanding results:

  • Jasmine (Y1): 1st place in Division 1 Snowboard GS
  • Division 1 Snowboard GS team: 1st place
  • Georgia, Sienna, Sophia (Y4): 1st overall Division 5 Alpine
  • Parisse (Y11): 2nd place Division 1 Alpine
  • Athena (Y9): 2nd place Division 2 Alpine
  • Chloe, Zara, Abigail (Y5): 2nd overall Division 4 Alpine
  • Georgia (Y4): 2nd place Division 5 Alpine
  • Madison (Y2): 2nd place Division 6 Alpine
  • Charlotte, Yuki (Y1), Madison, Avery (Y2): 2nd overall Division 6 Alpine
  • Ella (Y10): 2nd place Division 1 Snowboard GS
  • Jorja (Y5): 3rd place Division 4 Alpine

Well done to our Senior School students who played in the Southside Football Gala Day recently. The girls finished second, and as a result will be invited to play in the ACT Football Competition.

Year 1 students recently hosted their parents, friends and teachers for the Animal Expo. Students showcased animal habitat dioramas that they had created, which focused on the theme 'Sharing the Planet'.

Annie (Y8) and Sophie (Y11) represented the U16 ACT Hockey team at the U16 Australian Schoolgirls National Hockey Championships recently. Sophie was the captain of the team, while Annie was the youngest member of the squad.

Recently our Year 11 IBDP students volunteered at the Food Pantry in Narrabundah, establishing gardens, building compost units, planting, sorting donations and working in the public shop front. The staff at the Food Pantry spoke highly of our student's involvement, and the CEO, Simon Bennett, reiterated his thanks to CGGS, noting his staff have 'never worked with such engaged and capable students'.
