Student News - Term 4 Week 2

Aria (Y9) recently represented the ACT at the National Schools Futsal Championships in Brisbane. After a strong performance at the tournament, Aria was selected to represent the U15 Australian Girls Futsal team, who will tour Fiji in 2024.

Our Years 2–4 students have commenced their Netball Discovery program this term. The program will run across the summer netball season, and provides our students with additional opportunities to improve their netball skills.

Georgia (Y4) and Chole (Y10) recently received Swimming Age Champion medals from School Sport ACT, recognising them as the best 10-year-old swimmer and best 16-year-old swimmer in the ACT, respectively.

Scarlett and Claudia (Y8) recently travelled to Coffs Harbour to compete for the ACT in the Australian National Oztag Championships.

Recently, 28 students participated in Dance Fest. Choreographed by four students, and led by Dance Captain Sarah (Y12), CGGS' routine focussed on 'Dance Through The Ages' and featured elements from 20th century regency, the roaring 20’s, 70’s disco and modern hip hop. This was the 34th year CGGS has participated in Dance Fest, of the 35 years the event has existed.

Several students travelled to Albury recently with teachers Sam Papasidero, Lauren Richardson and Adrian Gan for a Tae Kwon Do trip.

Year 9 students had an incredible experience on camp in the Kangaroo Valley recently. Surrounded by the sounds of native animals and the budding spring weather, students mastered their outdoor skills and discovered the true meaning of teamwork and resilience in one of Australia's most picturesque landscapes.
