Student News - Term 4 Week 1

Silver Duke of Edinburgh students enjoyed an unforgettable sailing adventure in the Whitsundays, honing their navigation skills as they participated in daily island excursions using maps and compasses. The girls courage and resilience was tested with each new challenge, resulting in growth and a newfound appreciation for adventure.

Several touch football student-athletes travelled to Queensland over the holiday to compete in national competitions. Willow (Y6), Bella (Y7) and Grace (Y7) represented the ACT Raiders at the National Youth Championships, while teams from CGGS played in the Gold Coast Titans All Schools tournament.

Emma (Y10) recently received an Audrey Fagan Enrichment Grant, awarded to girls, young women, non-binary and gender diverse people aged 12 to 18 years to support their development of a project. Emma's project is an Original Song Production. She received her grant from Minister for Women Yvette Berry MLA at a special afternoon tea.

Scarlett and Claudia (Y8) represented the ACT at the Australian Junior Basketball Club Championships over the holidays. The girls won a bronze medal in the Shield Division.

At the NSW All Schools Athletics Carnival, Olivia (Y7) finished second in both the 800m and 1500m, achieving personal bests in both events.

Emilia (Y7) has won the Stile's September Art of Science Competition. The monthly competition celebrates the interplay between art and STEM, and the winner of the competition receives prizes for themselves, their teacher and their school.

Recently Georgia (Y7) attended the Berry Interschool Equestrian Championship. Competing for CGGS, Georgia finished first in two of her four showjumping rounds and second overall amongst Year 7 competitors.
