Student News - Term 3 Week 9

Congratulations to Holly (Y8) who received first place in the Advanced Foundation division of the Betsy Sawers Ballet Memorial Awards. Having only just returned from injury, this is a positive result for Holly.

Good luck to our hockey and netball teams playing in Grand Finals this weekend. Playing in a Grand Final, let alone winning one, is a massive achievement that few athletes experience, so we encourage our CGGS community to join us on the sidelines this weekend and cheer our teams on:

Hockey: Friday 15 September at the National Hockey Centre, Lyneham

  • U18 6.45pm

Netball: Saturday 16 September at the South Canberra Netball Association Courts, Deakin

  • Year 7 Purple 11.30am
  • Year 8 Gold: 11.30am
  • Years 9–10 Lightning: 1pm
  • Year 11 Senior Green: 2.30pm

At the Australian Short-Course Swimming Championships, Chloe (Y11) finished third in the Open A 50m butterfly final and eighth in the Open A 200m freestyle final.

The Canberra chapter of the Wakakirri National Story Dance Festival is over for 2023. After an outstanding performance, the CGGS Year 4 team won the following awards:

  • Mental Health Story State Award
  • Storytelling Award for a Great Story
  • Storytelling Award for Story Theme and Concept
  • Storytelling Award for Strong Use of the Festival Motif
  • Ensemble Award for Dancing and Acting
  • Production Award for Soundtrack
  • Best Public Speaking Award

What makes these awards particularly impressive is that CGGS was the youngest cohort performing.
