Student News: Term 3 Week 10

Last Saturday was a big day for our CGGS hockey and netball teams, who played in their respective Grand Finals. The U18 Hockey team won their Grand Final 2-0, marking their eighth consecutive premiership. In netball, Year 7 Purple won 14-13, and Years 9–10 Lightning won 32-26 and Senior Green finished runner-up. Well done to all students who played in Grand Finals.

Maisie (Y7) represented the ACT at the School Sport Australia (SSA) Netball Championships in Perth recently, playing in all 14 of the ACT's games.

Sophie, Madi (Y7) and Bella (Y9) participated in the Australian Dance Festival recently. The girls engaged in workshops with dance experts and had an opportunity to compete in the Australian's Best Dance Crew.

Well done to Alice (Y6) who won the ACT Rostrum Grand Final recently.

Ava (Y11) played in the Ice Hockey Grand Final for the Canberra Pirates recently. Ava and the Pirates went down in the final, however as a result of her strong performances throughout the year Ava has been selected in the Sydney Sirens team to play in the Australian Women's Ice Hockey League.

As part of their Unit of Inquiry, our Kindergarten students have been busy painting garden gnomes to be displayed at Floriade. The gnomes will also make an appearance at Art on the Grounds in October.

Alyse and Catherine (Y9) appeared on WIN News Canberra recently, as they prepare to represent Australia in the Indoor Cricket World Championships in Dubai.

Good luck to Willow (Y6), Grace and Bella (Y7) who will represent the ACT Raiders at the Touch Football National Youth Championships over the School holidays.

Avni (Pre-K) and Arushi (Y3) have been awarded the Canberra Times ACT Container Deposit Scheme Envio Champion award. The girls, who are sisters, have collected more than 50,000 cans and bottles over the past two years, recycling them through the ACT Container Deposit Scheme and donating the $5000 raised to charity.
