Student News: Term 2 Week 2

We’re thrilled to share the achievements of our students from Term 2 Week 2.

Siri (Year 8) showcased her skills at the Snowy Mountains Interschools competition, securing impressive results in both jumping rounds and the show ring. Her dedication and skill earned her the prestigious title of Age Group Runner-Up.

In the realm of sports, our young cricketers demonstrated outstanding talent at the Eastlake Junior Cricket Awards 2023. Hiruni (Year 11) was honoured as the Female Junior Cricketer of the Year, while Swairee (Year 9) received the Coach's Award, exemplifying their commitment to and hard work.

Our CGGS Athletics team emerged as overall Female Athletics Champions at the ASC Athletics, with standout performances from Ilaria (Year 7) and her 1st place in 12-years Category, and Annie (Year 10), who placed 2nd in 16-years Category.

In addition, our swimmers excelled at the Canberra Amateur Swimming Club, with students claiming top honors in their respective age categories:

  • 13yrs 2nd Place Age Champion: Annie (Year 7)
  • 14 yrs 2nd Place Age Champion: Katelyn (Year 9)
  • 15 yrs 2nd Place Age Champion: Claire (Year 10)
  • 15 yrs 3rd Place Age Champion: Cady (Year 9)
  • 17-19 yrs 1st Place Age Champion: Chloe (Year 12)
  • 17-19yrs 3rd Place Age Champion: Zara (Year 12)

In the arts, Sophie (Year 8) and Gracie (Year 8) showcased their skills at a non-competitive Dance Festival, immersing themselves in rigorous workshops led by industry professionals.

Lastly, in celebration of Canberra Tree Week, Neva (Year 5) earned recognition for her artwork in the 'Three Are Key' For the winning entry, Neva received a certificate and a plant as the prize, and her winning entry is displayed at the Australian National Botanic Gardens.
