Student achievements

Congratulations to Izzy Cairns (Y6), who was recently selected for Tennis Australia's National Development Camp, which featured the best U11 junior tennis players in the country. Izzy spent four days at the National Tennis Centre, training with elite coaches and learning what it takes to become a professional athlete.

Well done to our Debating and Public Speaking teams competing in the ACTDU. Five Year 7 to 8 teams and one Year 6 team progressed to the quarter finals, while four Year 11 to 12 teams made the quarter-finals and two progressed to the semi finals.

Recently, Siri Taubenschlag (Y6) and Allegra Taubenschlag (Y7) competed at the NSW Country Show Jumping Championships. Siri had clear rounds all weekend, while Allegra won her U18 class.

Our Year 9 and 10 CIT Bridge Challenge students are off to a good start. The girls recently competed against multiple schools from across Canberra in the first heat of the CIT Bridge Challenge, following several weeks of exploring concepts in their Design and Technology classes. The CGGS team were able to build a bridge that held 115kg of weight, the second highest in their heat.

Congratulations to Annabel Liu (Y3) who finished first place in the 2022 Canberra Irish Dance Premiership.

Well done to Isabella Wallis (Y10) who will be competing in the 25km race at the Simpson Desert Ultra on 1 June.

We wish Claudia Ryall (Y7) the best of luck, as she travels to Coffs Harbour in early June to play for the ACT in the Oztag State Cup.
