Student Achievements

Congratulations to Alyse O’Brien and Catherine Diedricks (Y9) who competed for the ACT in the U15 Margaret Peden Cup, a NSW representative Cricket competition that draws the best cricket teams from all over NSW. The ACT team won the competition.

Well done to Georgia Robinson (Y4) who competed at the NSW Age Swimming Championships recently. Georgia was one of only two ten-year olds who qualified for the competition from the ACT.

The ACT Raiders Junior Touch Football teams were announced recently, and CGGS is well represented across these squads. The teams will play at the 2022 NSW Junior Regionals in Tuggerah, from 30 April to 1 May. Congratulations to Willow Barry, Sadie Cannell, Stefania Havas (Y5), Maddie Corbron, Gracy Maclay and Arabella Barry (Y6) who were selected in the U12 team, Alice Hincksman, Annie Hassal and Evie Foote (Y8) who were selected in the U14 team, and Juliana Robertson and Luci Wilson (Y10) who were selected in the U16 team.

As part of the Middle Years Programme (MYP), Year 6 students have started their language studies, learning both Chinese and Latin. Latin students have been working on a languages cube, which allows the students to be hands-on by creating their own visual representation of their language learning. Each side of the cube demonstrates a different aspect of their learning in Latin for the MYP. The ability to communicate in more than one language is essential to the concept of an international education, and promotes multilingualism, intercultural understanding and international mindedness.
