Student achievements

Congratulations to the CGGS Year 8 and 10 students who participated in their grand final of the National Virtual Debating competition. In their debate against Newcastle Grammar, our Year 8 team of Elke, Sidhe and Ridhima successfully moved the motion, ‘that politicians should give up all personal social media during their terms’. Our Year 10 team of Aditi, Erin, Hannah and Trisha persevered in a very close debate but were bested by their PLC Sydney opponents who moved the motion ‘that countries with poor human rights records should be banned from hosting major sporting events’. Well done to all students on reaching the grand final and for maintaining their focus in the final days of the school year.

Maebel (Y10) and Hannah (Y10) were recently announced as two of the 2023 ambassadors for The Q Performing Arts Centre. From dozens of submissions, internationally-renowned judge Kate Mulvany OAM selected eight extraordinary artists to represent The Q as ambassadors in 2023. The eight ambassadors will receive double passes to season shows, invitations to special events, access to rehearsals, mentorship and more.
