P&F Association: President's Update

15 September

Dear parents, carers and friends of CGGS,

I can’t believe we are in September already and heading into the tail end of the year! We have many things to look forward to in Term 4:

  • Art on the Grounds: 13 and 14 October. We are currently seeking volunteers for several of the stalls at this event. If you are able to assist, please click here.
  • P&F small grants open for applications
  • P&F staff awards open for nomination

Planning for events next year has begun, and at our recent meeting the P&F Association Committee discussed the idea of organising an event to get the all CGGS parents and friends together. Watch this space! Ideas and assistance, as always, are welcomed.

We received a lovely letter from Lucy (Y12), School Captain, who thanked the P&F for donating the fairy floss and popcorn machines for the Grammar’s Got Talent night. They were able to raise almost $6,000 on the night to support Beryl Women, an organisation that provides crisis accommodation for women and their children who are homeless or at risk of homelessness due to domestic and/or family violence.

At the recent Committee meeting, Ms Terrie Jones updated us on the progress of some of the small grants projects awarded last year and capital works around the school.
We also had a discussion on the following updated policies:

  • Enrolment Policy
  • Grievance Policy and Behaviour Expectation Policy
  • Parent Code of Conduct, and
  • Community Expectations Document.

Changes to these documents were triggered by the ACT Education Directorate’s Interim Guidelines—Registration Standards for Non-government Schools.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday 10 October at the Senior School Boardroom or online. Note that we have moved the meeting to 6.30-8.30pm as some of us (me) fade rather quickly after 8.30pm!

Please email Elissa Singer, Engagement Officer (Community Relations and Events) if you would like to join the meeting online. We hope to see some of you there next month!

Kind regards,

Patty Chier
