2019 production of Wicked!

After months of preparation, Wicked came to life at Canberra Girls Grammar School in May, 2019.

Across the four shows, the cast and crew revelled in the opportunity to perform to a full house, bringing the community together for a celebration of acting, singing and dancing.

The musical, which essentially focusses on friendship, female empowerment and standing up for what you believe in, featured more than 40 CGGS students on stage, supported by male cast members from Marist College and St Edmund’s College. Many more students played in the orchestra while others worked hard behind the scenes moving props, assisting with make-up and wardrobe and providing tech crew support.

2017 production of Annie

After much anticipation, months of rehearsals, set building and costume making, Canberra Girls Grammar School (CGGS) presented Annie - the Musical. Year 7 students Evie Harrison (pictured below) and Mia Byron shared the title role and were joined on stage by students from the Junior and Senior School along with special guests.

2016 Drama productions

Canberra Girls Grammar School drama students performed two major productions in 2016 - the Senior production of Midsummer Jersey ran from 11-14 October followed by the Year 9-10 production of Hating Alison Ashley from 8-10 November 2016.

Summer Shorts – 22-23 March 2016

An annual co-curricular Drama event at CGGS, Summer Shorts gives Year 7 and 8 students an opportunity to explore onstage and offstage roles in a fun, collaborative and inclusive environment, culminating in a live performance. This year, there were over 90 students involved, including actors, directors, front of house and backstage crew.

Senior Drama students also became involved and took on the responsibility of Directors and Stage/Production Managers. They worked in teams with small groups of Year 7 and 8 students to cast, rehearse and produce 6 short comic plays: Bad Auditions by Bad Actors, Vulga the Vampire, School Under Siege, Love and Lycra and Doctor Doctor.
