Career Development

The School Careers Advisor provides assistance and information to students about options in further education, career pathways and career decision making.

Career counselling is offered to all students from Years 7 to 12, either individually or in groups. Particular emphasis is placed on Years 10 to 12. Year 10 students take a careers unit in the last two weeks of Term 2 through their English classes and also participate in work experience. Year 12 students attend fortnightly career development lessons which cover various career pathways presented by professionals in the field and information regarding post school education including university applications and admission schemes. Senior students are also offered work experience with organisations they were not able to access in Year 10 due to age limitations.

The careers resource room is well stocked with current print resources and serves as the location for information sessions presented by industry and university representatives. These facilities provide access to current and comprehensive information essential for informed decision making.
