It has been a hive of activity at Canberra Girls Grammar School this week. After a year that has been full of challenges, our community had the opportunity to celebrate the many highlights and achievements of 2020.
The Senior School Celebration Day took place on Tuesday, 1 December in the Senior School Hall, with parents taking the opportunity to tune in via the live stream link.
Our guest speaker this year was Ms Georgeina Whelan AM CSC Bar, the first female Commissioner of the ACT Emergency Services Agency.
Awards were presented to students from Years 7 to 11, including those for excellence, engagement, improvement and outstanding effort.
The Music Academy entertained the audience throughout the proceedings, which culminated in a performance of Jamiroquai’s Canned Heat, comprising combined Jazz bands, vocal soloists and a dance ensemble.

This morning, it was the Junior School community’s turn to gathered in the Hall for their annual Presentation Assembly.
Academic awards were presented to students in Years 3 to 6 and, as is tradition, the ‘changing of the guard’ saw 2020 Head Girl, Holly Jones, and Deputy Head Girls, Olivia Ryall and Tess Shanahan, officially hand over their titles to the 2021 Junior School leaders:
Head Girl – Allegra Taubenschlag
Deputy Head Girls – Isabella Collins and Felicity Peppinck
Bates won the House Sports Shield and Mackellar took out the Aggregate House Shield.

Across the two events, the President of the Parents and Friends Association, Ms Janice Green presented the annual P&F Staff awards.
