Congratulations to Lucy Piva (Y10) and Chloe Douglas-Byrne (Y9), who were both listed in Swimming Australia’s top 25 national performances for the long course season in 2021. Lucy was ranked fifth in the 50m breaststroke and 16th in both the 100m and 200m breaststroke for the Female 15-year-old category, while Chloe was ranked 23rd in the 100m butterfly for the 13-year-old category.

Well done to Ahlia Jesu-Koehler (Y3) Chloe Tan (Y3) who scored 100% in the CSIRO Bebras Australia Computational Thinking Challenge. The challenge required students to complete a series of tasks using computational thinking skills, which included organising data logically, interpreting patterns and models, and designing and implementing algorithms. The three girls will be featured on the Bebras Honour Roll for their achievement.

During the school holidays, Ellie Peden (Y6) utilised her extraordinary skills to start her own business sewing face masks. Ellie has made some wonderful designs that she has been selling to the Canberra community. Well done to Ellie, and best of luck with your new business venture!

Congratulations to Arushi Natu (Y1) and Annabel Bathgate (Y5) who recently received an Exceptional Young Person award as part of ACT Children’s Week. Arushi has been collecting bottles and cans to fundraise for two worthy causes, while Annabel spearheaded a drive to produce face masks for children in poorer nations. We are so proud of the girls and their willingness to contribute to society.

At our recent School assembly, Joy Chow (Y12) was awarded the Music Eisteddfod Principal’s Cup, presented to the Music Academy performer of the year. Joy plays piano, and will often perform at School assemblies as students enter. She is also a talented guitarist and sings in Chorale and Gabriel singers. Joy’s passion is in composing music, and she will be heading to the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2022 to study music composition.

Well done to Ivy Fagan (Y5) who recently participated in the Can Give Day LIVE event, a singing competition open to Canberra performers that raises funds for patient care at the Canberra Hospital. Ivy started an individual fundraiser for Can Give Day, smashing her target by over $4000. Ivy even got to meet musician Leo Sayer at the event!
