During the Senior School Assembly on Tuesday, 4 May, Athletics and Cross Country medals and trophies were presented.

Of note, at the Athletics Carnival, Inemami Ajulo (Year 11) broke four records, including two which were set in 1978 by Bronwyn McDonald (1979). At the Assembly, we were delighted to welcome Bronwyn back to the School to present the age champions and record-breakers with their awards. Inemami also won the coveted Golden Slipper (fastest nine students over 100m) – the record for this event is still held by Bronwyn McDonald.

Over the past weekend, our Sailing team competed in the 2021 NSW Secondary Schools Teams Racing Championship in Sydney. The girls came 5th out of 24 teams in the all-girls competition. The team also won the umpire’s award for their sportsmanship on and off the water. This is a huge achievement, as the umpire’s award this based on how competitors conduct themselves throughout the competition. Congratulations to the following students:

Eve Anderson (Year 12), Angelina Lin (Year 7), Yasmin Moraitis (Year 10), Laura Phipps (Year 8), Niamh Sheehan (Year 8), Poppy Smith (Year 8), Charlotte Walker (Year 8) and Cassandra Wiles (Year 8).

Sophie Bolton (Year 9) travelled to Bathurst during the school holidays to represent the ACT at the u15 Australian Hockey Championships. She played exceptionally well all week and her team successfully placed 10th in Australia.

Sasha Grove (Year 11) has once again been dominating on the soccer field. Sasha was selected to play in the Canberra United team at the start of the season, becoming the youngest player in the squad. In the W-League competition, Canberra United secured a place in the semi-finals, which was a huge milestone as they haven’t qualified for the semis for four years!
