Emily Rae-Brinsden (Year 10) won the Highly Commended award for the Year 9-10 section at the ACT Association for the Teaching of English (ACTATE) LitLinks creative writing competition. The awards ceremony was held on Monday, 9 November and Emily was presented with a $150 Paperchain voucher. The piece she submitted was based on The Great Gatsby. Four other CGGS students entered the competition and won achievement awards: Jana Ang (Year 10), Himara Jayasekera-Peiris (Year 8), Gabriella Koch (Year 7) and Cecilia Wall (Year 8).
Year 9 singer-songwriter, Lara Buchanan is enjoying more success, having been named a winner of Green Music’s first Climate Fridays Songwriting Competition. Lara, along with the other two shortlisted acts will perform on Climate Fridays Season 3 on 11 December and the prizes will be announced live on Facebook.
