Defence students mark Victory in the Pacific Day

On 15 August, 1945, Japan accepted the Allied demand for unconditional surrender bringing an end to the Second World War. We commemorate the price of peace on this date every year, now known as Victory in the Pacific Day, also known as VP Day.

This year we mark the 75th anniversary of VP Day. As a special act of commemoration, CGGS Junior School students have donated hand-made poppies to veterans at RSL Lifecare Fred Ward Gardens, in Curtin. The generous staff at GG’s Flowers did an amazing job at transforming our poppies into beautiful bouquets to brighten up the facility for veterans and other residents.

Spare a thought this Saturday, 15 August for those who served during World War II, and for the price we all paid for peace.
