It has been a couple of big weeks for members of our Dance Company as they prepare for their first performance this evening. The Winter Concert has officially sold out, however, you can still register to watch the concert via livestream.
In addition to many rehearsals for the Winter Concert, many of our dancers have been taking advantage of performance opportunities in Canberra.
Last weekend, at the Canberra Dance Festival, our Year 5-6 troupe were awarded ‘Excellent’ (mark of 70), against a hard section. A great result for their first official performance together. The following day, the Year 7-8 girls also earned an ‘Excellent’, score of 80 (one mark off ‘outstanding’). Congratulations to all the dancers who represented CGGS so confidently in their first competition.
Four of CGGS students are involved in Unveiled, a contemporary dance project by Bonnie Neate and Suzy Piani, of Dance Central, that showcases pre-professional dancers in this contemporary dance project which is open to advanced-level dancers across the ACT and surrounding regions. Our Dance Captain, Anna Hosking (Year 12) landed the lead role as Giselle and is joined on stage by Izzy Becvarik (Year 10), Alice Collins (Year 11) and Hollie Teer (Year 11). The performances will be held at Erindale Theatre on 16 and 17 July and tickets are available here.
