Anzac Day poetry competition

Junior School and Senior School students are invited to submit an entry to our CGGS inaugural Anzac Day Poetry Competition. The winning poems will be published on the CGGS website and book prizes will be presented in Week 1 of Term 2.

In keeping with the spirit of ANZAC, poems should adhere to the themes (think about the New Zealand connection) and meet the selection criteria:

Junior School

  • Theme - The spirit of ANZAC
  • Length – maximum 15 lines
  • Closing date – 1.00pm on Friday, 3 April (classroom teachers will submit students’ poems)
  • Prizes will be awarded to the best poem in the following categories:
    • Prep-Year 3
    • Years 4-6

Senior School

  • Interpretation of theme – Alliance
  • Connecting with the audience
  • Use of imagery
  • Closing date – 12.00pm on Friday, 3 April
  • Submissions to be emailed to Mrs Harvey, our Defence School Mentor at: cate.harvey@cggs.act.edu.au
  • Prizes will be awarded to the best poem in the following categories:
    • Years 7-8
    • Years 9-10
    • Years 11-12
