Scholarship and Bursary Program

Funded in large part by The Gabriel Foundation, our Scholarship and Bursary Program is designed to recognise high achievers as well as provide opportunities to girls and young women who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend the School. The Gabriel Foundation provides substantial support to our Scholarship and Bursaries program, strengthening our community by advancing educational opportunities for our students.

From 2023, the inaugural Archer Family Bursary will be awarded to a student entering Year 11 for the duration of their studies. The bursary is named after the Archer family, particularly Mr Keith Archer, a valued member of the CGGS Board, P&F Association, and the Gabriel Foundation, and his daughter, Margaret Cornwell (graduate of 1951). Margaret is a generous supporter of CGGS and is still actively engaged with the School as a member of the Grammarians’ Association, and as a valued donor. Keith’s son also attended CGGS, as did four of his grandchildren and two of his great grandchildren.

The Scholarship and Bursary Program specifically acknowledges and rewards students who have demonstrated academic excellence in combination with high achievement in sport, music, cultural pursuits, or across multiple disciplines.

This Program also provides opportunities for Indigenous day students, and for boarding students from rural and regional communities.

Recipients of CGGS Scholarships and Bursaries are equally recognised for their leadership skills and service to their school or the broader community, and thus naturally become ambassadors for our School.

Underpinning the Program is an intention to nurture girls and young women who embrace and embody the School’s three core values of inclusion, courage and integrity.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Not all Scholarships and Bursaries will be offered every year. From 27 April 2023, the awards on offer for 2024 will be published on the application page.
