We know that selecting the right school for your child is a significant decision.

The CGGS Admissions team is here to help you with the enrolment process, answer any questions you may have about the School, and hopefully, to welcome you into the CGGS community.

We encourage prospective students and families to come and visit the School ahead of their commencement. Open Days and School Tours provide a wonderful opportunity to see the School in action and engage with the community.

Once you have chosen CGGS for your child, you can commence the application process online. Though we process all enrolments two years in advance, we welcome applications for all intake years.

The Enrolment Journey

Before applying, we invite all prospective students and families to visit the School.

Step 1. Enquiry. You can make an enquiry to join Canberra Girls Grammar School through our online form at the bottom of this page, in-person, or by phoning the Admissions team.

You will be invited to tour the school or attend an open event.

Step 2. Application. Applications are generally accepted any time from birth to the year of proposed entry, though intake years do apply. Complete the online application here. Payment of the $165 non-refundable application fee is payable at this time.

Step 3. Documentation. In March at least two years prior to proposed entry (or earlier where practicable), a member of the Admissions team will contact you to make a request for relevant documents.

Step 4. Interview. You will be invited to attend an interview with the Head of Junior/Senior School or their delegate.

Students applying to enter the Boarding House will also meet with the Executive Director of Operations and the Head of Boarding to approve their place. For applicants outside the Canberra region, or in cases where families are unable to travel to the school in person, an online interview can be arranged.

Step 5. Enrolment offer. Within one week of the interview, successful applicants will be sent a Letter of Offer, asked to read and sign the Enrolment Agreement (EA), and pay the non-refundable enrolment deposit. A student’s place is only confirmed and held once the EA is signed and the deposit has been made.

Step 6. Confirmation letter. Once we receive the above, you will be sent a confirmation of enrolment email. Boarding families will also be sent the Boarding House Handbook and Boarding House Agreement to read, sign and return. Your child’s enrolment will be guaranteed through to the end of Year 3 for boys and end of Year 12 for girls - assuming all requirements for continued enrolment are being met by the family and student.

Welcome to CGGS. Congratulations and welcome to the CGGS Community. You will be notified of orientation days and other opportunities to begin your journey at CGGS.

Domestic Student Information
