Facilities Hire

Canberra Girls Grammar School (CGGS) is situated in Deakin, Canberra, the nation's capital and is one kilometre from Parliament House. The School is located over two main campuses, covering 10 hectares and includes facilities such as an indoor heated pool, gymnasiums, sports courts, playing fields, purpose-built buildings for the performing arts, ICT, arts, textiles, music and a 1,000 seat hall. Yhuuramulum, on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin in Yarralumla, is a multi-purpose teaching and learning facility incorporating flexible learning spaces, STEM workshop and rowing shed.

CGGS has an extensive range of facilities for hire at competitive rates. All bookings are subject to approval by the Principal and must comply with the requirements of the School's crown lease. Facilities can only be hired if they are not being used by the School which generally means limited availability during the School term.

General Facilities

The Multimedia Theatre - located in the Gabriel Centre at the Senior School, has audiovisual facilities including, video, DVD, slide projection, white board and over-head projection equipment. With seating for up to 180 the Multimedia Centre is the ideal location for conferences or meetings.

The CGGS Hall (Senior School) and Clements Hall (Junior School) – The Senior School Hall can seat up to 1000 in rows. The Hall has state-of-the-art acoustics, tiered retractable seating on the ground level allowing for multi-functional use of floor space and tiered seating in the balcony area. The Hall is the largest in the School and has been used for concerts, conferences, lectures and meetings. PA, data projection and video equipment can be used in this facility. The Junior School Hall can seat up to 500 people.

Drama Centre - this purpose-built facility was built in 1998 and can be used as a performance or rehearsal space. The Centre has professional lighting and sound equipment and can seat up to 100 people.

Sporting Facilities - there are outdoor netball courts, tennis courts and playing fields. The School also has an indoor swimming pool and gym, which has markings for basketball, netball and various other sports.

Boarding House

A mock Tudor-style building built in 1926, the Boarding House can cater for groups of up to 90 outside of School terms, and can provide a wide range of facilities to ensure that your stay with us is a success. Accommodation is available in single, twin, triple or quad rooms. A minimum booking of 40 people is required.

The Boarders' Sitting Room, located on the ground floor of the Boarding House can be used as an informal lounge room or as a formal meeting room. The room can be sectioned into two parts and has a television and video recorder for guests' use.

The Visitors' Sitting Room with sliding doors adjoining the foyer, is a lovely room for meetings or functions. This room has been used for cocktail parties, focus groups and informal meetings.

The Dining Room can seat up to 90 people and has buffet style food service facilities. Menus can be created to suit your group's individual needs.

The Common Rooms, of which there are several throughout the Boarding House, can be used as private meeting areas, or a place for guests to relax. These rooms are equipped with a television, microwave and tea and coffee making facilities.

Chapel of the Annunciation

The Chapel seats approximately 150 people and has a paved courtyard accessible through double glass doors. Members of the CGGS community, including alumni are able to hire the Chapel for services such as weddings, baptisms and funerals.


This versatile, multi-purpose building was designed to take advantage of the amazing location and vista of Yarralumla Bay, with the upper floor offering multiple configuration options – suitable for entire year levels right down to small collaborative groups, community events and creative pursuits.

The venue has built-in audio/visual equipment and is fitted with operable walls, enabling the space to be divided into three separate rooms. The space has capacity for 200 guests theatre style, 140 for sit-down dinners and 100 for conferences, workshop and meetings. Catering can also be arranged on request.
