EQUESTRIAN

On 23 to 25 April, Josie Laver 7W, represented CGGS to compete in the EFA NSW Mitavite

Interschool’s Championship at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre. Many schools from all across NSW and the ACT were involved over the three days.

Josie competed in Eventing, Show Jumping, Dressage, Hacking, Showman and Jumping Equitation. Her results were as follows:

  • 1st, 3rd and 5th in Dressage
  • 2nd in Equitation
  • 2nd in 80cm Show Jumping
  • 4th in 90cm Show Jumping
  • 2nd in the Showman.
  • She also managed to place in the hacking and have a clear round in the Preliminary Eventing.

All of these results lead to Josie winning the overall Year 7 Championship! This is a fantastic achievement for which CGGS is very proud.

SOCCER NEWS

Parents of all students who have registered to play soccer for CGGS this season will need to fill in a registration form. This task can be completed at Parent Teacher interviews in Week 9 and 10. Mr Griffiths will have a separate table set up with instructions and the necessary forms to fill in. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Anyone interested in coaching a CGGS soccer team this season, please contact the Co-curricular Sports Coordinator, Jenny Hunter, on 6202 6496.

INDOOR HOCKEY 2007-2008 GRAND FINALS

On Tuesday 1 April the U16 Division 1 and Division 2 Indoor Hockey teams will be presented with their Grand Finals medals in assembly.

The Under 16 Division 1 team was successful in winning its Grand Final 3-2 against St Pats, after remaining undefeated all season. This was a very tight and thrilling game.

The U16 Division 2 team wasa close Runner Up in a 4-3 game against Centrals.   This is a great effort considering most of our players are 12-13 years of age in this team.

Both teams are to be congratulated for their skill, tenacity, courage and outstanding sportsmanship after a very long and hot season.

A very special thank you to all the wonderfully vocal and supportive parents who have come out every Sunday and had to rearrange long weekend plans so that their daughters could play in the Grand Finals.  Also  I would like to  sincerely thank our excellent team of coaches and managers.

I wish the players all the very best in the forthcoming winter season.

Gillian Dixon
