National Dragon Boat Championships Adelaide

From 20 to 26 April, 36 CGGS students and Teachers-in-Charge, Jenny Hunter and Lorraine Peck, went to the National Dragon Boat Championships in Adelaide. They were accompanied by 24 CGS students and two staff.

The students achieved great success at this competitive championship winning the National title in all three disciplines - 200m,500m and 2000 metres. Grammar was also successful in gaining the Junior mixed 200 and 500 metre titles.

Thanks go to all the students who have competed over the season and to their parents who support their commitment to Dragon Boats.

Flowing Festival Dragon Boats Regatta

A bus full of CGGS students headed off the Jindabyne last Sunday morning (in the rain at 6am!) to compete in the annual Flowing Festival Dragon Boat Regatta.

This year we had teams in both the Women’s and Junior Mixed categories. Our Women’s A boat finished a commendable 4th while our Mixed A boat finished in 2nd place. All paddlers were well fed by our reliable ‘Friends of Dragon Boats’. These parents worked tirelessly throughout the day making sure the students kept up their energy levels and stayed as dry and warm as possible.

Our next regatta is on Saturday 27 February  in Canberra. It will be a 1km race and so we are all looking forward to seeing how the teams go.
