Welcome from the Principal
At Canberra Girls Grammar School our focus is on the students as individuals. Each one is different with a unique mixture of skills and talents. We want every student to develop the confidence they need to succeed in a fast-changing world. We believe that positive, considered encouragement is the best way to enable student progress; stretching the most able and giving support to those who need it.
As Principal, I am passionate about education and have led three schools in the UK before moving to Canberra. Teaching students is rewarding; seeing understanding grow and a student mature is what every teacher aims for. It is also a solemn responsibility; to inspire students to reach new heights in all they do.
As a mother of two daughters myself, I know how important a school's partnership with parents and guardians is. Our senior staff have an open door policy so that you can make an appointment to talk to us and we can build a positive relationship with you, as well as with your child.
On the pages of this website you will read of the School’s tradition of academic success. We value our strong co-curricular program and these pages will also give further details of the myriad opportunities a CGGS student has. Our system of pastoral care underpins everything we do; we believe an anxious child cannot learn and a relaxed and happy child absorbs things more easily.
This website will give you a flavour of life at school but nothing compares to a personal visit. We would love to show you round and have you meet some of our staff and students. This will enable you to decide for yourselves whether our environment, ethos and approach is one where your child will both enjoy their education and reach their full potential.
Please visit our School Tours page to make a booking for one of the tours during the year or alternatively you can contact the Director of Admissions to make an individual tour at an alternative time.
I look forward to meeting you.
Mrs Anne Coutts
