Year 3 brings Christmas Joy to Fred Ward Gardens

On November 23, our three Year 3 classes, their class teachers and other staff including Mrs Lyn Pepper-Budge (Junior School Religion and Philosophy Specialist Teacher) visited Fred Ward Gardens, an RSL Lifecare Nursing Home, at Curtin.

During Term 3, the students learned details about the First Christmas and spent time in Religion and Philosophy lessons drafting, then writing and illustrating, their own versions of the Christmas story all the while knowing these would become individual gifts for each of the residents.

In Music lessons, Mrs Sara David rehearsed songs to be performed by students for the residents and staff to enjoy.  Wynona (3J) compered the presentation, Sophie (3M) read a prayer she had written, and Samantha (3B) read her story to all the audience.  Wynona later commented that, “it was a great experience for the Year 3 students”, and the Manager of Fred Ward Gardens, Ms Libby Meyers thanked students for continuing “the wonderful connection between elderly residents and such a heart-warming, caring group of young students.”
