Winter Netball wraps up

Posted 21 September 2017 4:27pm

Saturday, 16 September signalled the culmination of the CGGS winter season of Netball. The Netball program went from strength to strength this year with 219 students playing winter Netball alongside their 33 coaches and 18 student coaches.

This year we fielded seven junior teams, fourteen intermediate teams and eight senior teams. The great participation and dedication of the players and coaches this season led to 15 of our teams making the final series and five of our netball teams making the grand final. In addition, the Year 7-8 ASC and Year 9-10 netball teams won their respective ASC competitions.

Well done to the CGGS Year 8 Gems and Year 7 Giants who fought valiantly in their Grand Final, narrowly falling short at the final siren. The players should be proud of the effort and sportsmanship they displayed.

Well done to Year 8 Emeralds and Senior Pink Team who ran away with wins to take away the Grand Final trophy on Saturday. Both teams were dominant throughout the whole season and their wins were deserved.

Congratulations to the Year 8/9 Diamonds who had a hard-fought win over their rivals St Clare’s Alpha Centauri to win the Division 1 Championship ending a strong performance from the players in both SCNA and ASC competitions along with their coach Bronwyn Jonathan.

A big thank you to all the players, coaches and umpires for their dedication and commitment to Netball this season as well as Ms Jenny Hall and Head Coach, Ms Kate Durham for their support and organisation of the program.
