The height of fashion in Melbourne

At the beginning of March, Year 11 and 12 Textiles students travelled to Melbourne for the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival.

We were exposed to the process and people involved in the Australian fashion industry, including a hand-pleating factory and a beading shop.

We also looked at tertiary student work with a National Graduate runway show and took a tour of RMIT Fashion School exploring pathways for the future.

Additionally, we visited the National Gallery of Victoria, allowing us to experience the Triennial installation by world-renowned haute couture designer Guo Pei, and attend a Runway 7 catwalk parade that displayed the upcoming season for brands such as ELLIATT and Third Form.

A wonderful time was had by all on this creative excursion and learnt many inspiring things that will guide their future textiles studies and projects.
