Student achievements this week of 22 February

Congratulations to Year 12 student Jill Greig on winning 'Best Youth Actress In a Leading Role In a Play' at the Canberra Theatre Awards last Saturday evening. Jill won the award for her performance as M'Lynn Eatenton in last year's 2012 CGGS production Steel Magnolias. Congratulations also to CGGS Drama teacher Sophie Benassi who was presented with a Judges' Award for her directorship.

Congratulations to the following CGGS students on their selection in the ACT Squad to compete at the National Dragon Boating Championships in April: Gabrielle Nixon, Isabella Bain, Michelle Firth, Lauren Sandeman and Sarah Johnson.

Congratulations to Year 12 student Jess Cleary who has been selected as a member of the Australian Women's U21 European Handball Team. Jess only last year took up the sport of European Handball. Being a keen and skilled sportswoman she sought every opportunity to improve her skills and last weekend attended an intensive training camp from which she achieved national selection. She will compete internationally later this year in Spain.

Congratulations to Year 9 student Isobel Clark who has been selected to compete at the Australian Junior National Athletics Championships in Perth from 15 to 18 March 2013.

Best of luck to Year 9 student Madaleine Thomas-Beck who competes in the NSW Country Championship Swimming Competition in Sydney this weekend and then flies to New Zealand to compete in the NZ National Age Group Championships next week.
