What a busy start to the new school year we have had in the Boarding House (affectionately known as, ‘BoHo’).
We started the year with our New Boarder Parents Orientation Sleepover Experience, Elly Rose our Boarding House Captain and Harriet Wallace and Nancy Xia, our Boarding House Vice-Captains, helped welcomed 22 new boarders and their parents to our Boarding House family this year. We were very pleased to see so many new parents participate over the two days and hope you enjoyed your taste of boarding and that it gave you a small insight into boarding life!
Lots of activities have been happening both at the School and in the Boarding House. On Friday evening of Week 1, all boarders participated in a game of ‘getting to know you’ ten-pin bowling in their ‘family’ groups. We have some very talented bowlers in our Boarding House and on this occasion, Archer was the winning family.
The following Sunday we all went on a Lake Cruise sponsored by the Parents and Friends Association. What a wonderful scenic way to see the sights of Canberra!
On Wednesday, 14 February, we celebrated Valentine’s Day with a themed dinner, complete with chocolate roses and pink heart-shaped messages for every boarder and staff member. On Thursday, 15 February the Boarders celebrated Chinese New Year with a beautiful dinner prepared by our kitchen staff, complete with fortune cookies, lucky money and party poppers.
Last Sunday, we had a shopping activity to Ikea and Officeworks for the girls to purchase last minute school items and decorations for their dorm space. The activity finished with ice-creams all round!
Years 7 and 8 have already been to camp, Year 11 have been on retreat and last week, Year 9 were based at the Lake Precinct participating in the Ad Astra program.
With 2018 off to an exuberant start, we look forward to bringing you plenty more news from the BoHo throughout the year.
