Earlier this week, the Year 9 and Year 10 Dance and Drama students had a fabulous night of performances for their family and friends in their end of year showcase, Lights Up! This event consisted of a range of pieces that had the audience laughing, crying or sitting on the edge of their seats.
Drama performances included: Year 9 musical Theatre pieces and issue-based performances, Year 10 Shakespeare monologues, Australian Theatre pieces and vlogs exploring several drama practitioners. Behind the scenes, Drama students oversaw tech crew duties including lighting, sound and sets for each performance.
Year 9 dancers performed a variety of styles from contemporary and modern dance to musical theatre. The Year 10 dancers showcased their hip hop grooves, emotive lyrical style and choreographed their own commercial dance routines, along with a special modern duet inspired by Bangarra Dance Theatre.
There is no doubt the Dance and Drama students are some of the most determined girls at CGGS, and they proved that yet again with another incredible night.
Thank you to Drama Captain, Noa Zwikael and Dance Teacher, Maree Cronin for writing this article.
