Introducing 2020 Senior Council

Posted 8 November 2019 9:00am

Congratulations to our 2020 Senior Council on being chosen by their peers and the staff for senior student leadership responsibilities.

These young women epitomise the aspirational view of life that so many of our students bring to the diversity of activities at Canberra Girls Grammar.

There are also 70 leadership positions in the next tier of responsibility – academic, co-curricular, sports and clubs – that are keenly contested through a nomination and voting process. I am particularly pleased that so many of these roles have up to 11 nominations for one position. I am not surprised, given the talent and positivity of our students. They live and embrace our motto: ‘To the young anything is possible’, shown through the enthusiastic support of House and wider school events at local, national and international levels.

Their self-awareness, sensitivity, empathy, openness, creative and flexible thinking and compassionate natures are such a wonderful part of our school. This was clearly evident in one of a range of election/nomination tasks – each had to respond to Jane Goodall’s observation ‘Every individual matters. Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference. And we have a choice: What sort of difference do we want to make?’ As you can imagine the speeches were inspiring! 2020 is in great hands with the new 2020 Senior Council.

Best wishes,
