Celebrating loved ones on GGG Day

Posted 26 September 2019 4:21pm

Last Friday, 20 September, Year 3 students proudly welcomed special guests to the school for the annual Grandparents, Godparents and Grandfriends Day (GGG Day). Proudly hosted by the Gabriel Foundation, GGG Day is a wonderful celebration of learning, family and community. The Year 3 students delighted as they sang, danced, played instruments and read poems to an audience of almost 100 grandparents, godparents, Grammarians and special friends.

Leila West (2018) – who was School Captain in her final year at CGGS - was our guest speaker, sharing her memories of GGG Day as a Year 3 student and how on that day, with the encouragement of her grandmother, made a new friend, Tara (Dabrowski, 2018) who quickly became a life-long friend. Leila spoke of the life lessons she learnt from her grandparents and how important they are to her.

Following the formalities, the Year 3 students joined their ‘GGGs’ for morning tea before escorting them to their classrooms to share their learning and to play some games. Thank you to everyone who came to share in this wonderful day.
