On Wednesday, 15 May, we were delighted to present the inaugural ACT Anglican Schools Bands Festival.
This Festival featured performances from the Senior Concert Bands from Radford College, Canberra Grammar School & Canberra Girls Grammar School.
During the first half of the concert, a large and appreciative audience was treated to wonderful performances from each School.
Following a short interval, all three schools joined together to form a combined concert band under the direction of local maestro Mr Ian McLean.
It was a visual and aural feast with over 100 students playing together on the CGGS Senior School Stage. The concert concluded with a rousing and toe tapping performance of Jitterbug by Robert Buckley.
A great time was had by all and we certainly hope to have more collaborative concerts in the future.
A very special thanks to Friends of Music for feeding over 100 hungry students and staff, and to Cassie Linares (Year 11) for her work with lighting and sound.
