  2. Nine students from CGGS participated in this year’s Gondwana National Choral School, held in Sydney from 7-20 January. This highly selective program, established by Lyn Williams AM, brings together enthusiastic young singers from across Australia to learn and memorise challenging choral music under the guidance of many skilled conductors, accompanists and composers. Choristers audition and are reviewed on their vocal ability and musicianship, ultimately placing participants in different choirs, according to age, ability and singing technique.

This week, as I walked around the Senior School during lunchtimes, or earlier in the day in the Junior School, and watched so many students sitting, playing and interacting, I reflected on the purpose of social time in the school day. Unstructured activity, outside, with multiple year groups, playing music, sharing stories and experiences, and in some instances their lunch. This is a great school with an extraordinary story and a proud past.

  5. At the start of each year, the Senior School recognises students who have stepped into leadership roles across all areas of the School at the annual Commencement Service. Badges are presented, parents look on with pride, teaching staff process in their academic gowns and the Gabriel Singers inspire the audience with their joyous voices.

We welcomed sixteen new Boarders and their parents to our Boarding House family this year. The Orientation Sleepover experience on Sunday, 3 February was a great success giving our new families a taste of boarding life.
