Building Community – Providing the Extras

CGGS P&F Association is your connection to your school community. It functions to better support parental engagement and fellowship in our school by providing opportunities for parents to build on their connection with each other as a community.

From time to time the P&F Association also raises funds for those special extras that enhance the educational experience of CGGS students. In the past the P&F has funded the state-of-the-art Junior School playground, phonic ear technology and PDHPE rowing ergometers just to name a few.

I invite you to get on board and share our vision. Support upcoming P&F activities, share your ideas, meet other parents and help us build and strengthen our community.

Shannon Gill
President, CGGS P&F Association

From the moment guests arrived in their intriguing masquerade masks the evening was something really special.

The Ball had it all, from ballroom dancers, and a mega birthday cake, to a champagne bar, crystal chandeliers and golden candelabras. It was such a magical occasion.

Photos from the night can be downloaded here through id Photographics.

Thank you to the Ball Sub-Committee, the Hotel Realm, our band The Hit Parade, and ShowPony Events for such an amazing evening. With your support the P&F hopes to continue to offer our community many more opportunities for entertainment and engagement. Look out for our family Outdoor Movie Night and Carnival in October.

Over the weekend of 20–23 May Canberra Girls Grammar School celebrated its 90th Anniversary and Founders’ Day.

The celebrations were kicked off on Friday night with the P&F Association’s first ever Night Markets, and what a success it was!

Crowds of thousands were spoilt for choice with 37 stalls selling handmade and homemade goods, soul warming food, art, jewellery, sweet treats, mulled wine and much more.

Children were kept entertained all night in the family activity area and were treated to a performance by Warehouse Circus.

The music department provided musical entertainment through the entire evening, families enjoyed listening to performances form the Celtic Club, Jazz band as well as Junior School buskers raising funds for a Grand Piano.

On Friday, 26 February 2016, over 630 parents and students gathered for the first P&F Twilight Family Picnic.

There could have been no better way to kick off this year’s Canberra Girls Grammar School 90th Birthday celebrations. It was such a wonderfully warm and happy atmosphere with families sharing cheese boards and picnic rugs amongst the fairy lights, and children playing “tip and run” or dancing to the fantastic live band.

We had boarders’ families, veteran and brand new families all celebrating together under the one banner of the Canberra Girls Grammar School Community.

The feedback has been fantastic with calls to ‘do it all again next year!’

Thank you to the hundreds whom attended and made the evening such a memorable occasion. We really do have something special here at Canberra Girls Grammar School, don’t we?
