Several members of the Senior Council attended the Magna Carta lecture in Parliament House on Wednesday night, hearing Prime Minister Tony Abbott address guests including the British High Commissioner, Governor General of Australia and speaker of the House of Representatives.
The Prime Minister's modern interpretation of the Magna Carta's principle of the Rule of Law compared terrorism to medieval barbarianism and highlighted that this 800-year-old document is still relevant today. The students had the opportunity to meet and greet Mr Abbott after the speech and spoke with Aunty Janet, an Aboriginal elder who gave the Welcome to Country.
